GENERAL FARMING NEWS.
Matters concerning tho fat lamb industry are commanding much attention in Hawke's Bay at present. A special meeting of farmers interested is to be held at Waipukurau after to-morrow's sale. The feeling of the Waipukurau district is being tested regarding the proposal to establish co-operative freezing works there . Further arrivals of early lambs are reported at Apia (near Feilding), and in various parts of Hawke's Day. Large areas of scrub are being felled in some parts of Hawke's Bay this winter. The country is responding splendidly to the improvement, which will considerably increase the carrying capacity of tho farms concerned. ' , At a meeting of tho newly-formed Central 'Agricultural and Pastoral Society at Waipukurau, Mr. J. Hunter was in tho chair, and there were about 20 members present.' Over 80 now members were n\rolled, which number, with those already on the list, mates a total of nearly 150. Donations were promised by Mr. Knight (£3 35.) and Mr. Green (two cups). It was decided to defer the election of tho management committee until th# next general meeting, which is to be held on August 3.—"Hawke's Bay Herald."
