FEILDING NOTES

Lambs have already appeared. in the Apiti district, which shows that the hill district is fine sheep country, -and should dispel the idea that the climate there is too cold for successful sheep-farming. _ The annual examinations in connection with Hie Wellington Sunday School Union were held in tho Technical School last week. There were about thirty Feilding boys and girls under twelve years of age in the competition, and about a similar number over twelve years in the other grades. During the present year the low.cst price paid for butter-fat by tie Bunnythorpe Dairy Company was IOId., and for the past three months lljd. was paid. Messrs. Donald Bros., of Kairanga, are the largest suppliers to the factory, milking 100 cows and over during the height of the season. At the present time -the directors aro spending about .£IOOO in building and new plant. A brick building, 26ft. x 48ft., is being erected for the factory. A pasteuriser was installed three months ago, and' it is working very satisfactorily. It does not matter now whether the cows are fed on hay or root crops, for after the cream has been pnsteurised there is absolutely no taint. Previous to the installation of the pasteuriser there was some little trouble with "tho turnip flavour," but, since then, there has been none.
