' SOUTH MOLE ATTAINS 21S0 FEET. (By Teleeraoh.—Succial CorresoondenU Wangamii, July 2. The Wangamii Borough Council is moving in the direction of providing a recreation ground tor Aramoho, which is at present without one. Another worl: which the council will undertake shortly will be tho extension of Taupo Quay further down the river, lo tlie borough boundary, a distance of about half a mile. An automatic stamp-selling machine has been installed at the local post office. The Mavor (Mr. C. K. Mackay), accompanied by ihs. iMackay, left for Wellington to-day to attend the Municipal Conference. -Mr. Robert M'Xab, ex-Minister for Lands, lectures hero on July 13 in aid of the funds of the proposed Captain Cook memorial at Oueen Charlotte Sound. The south mob at Castlecliff has now been pushed out 21S0 foot seaward. The Harbour Hoard's engineer states that the oft'oet which the mole is having on the ebb lido now is very noticeable. The channel over tho bar, he says, is now regaining iU former position, and instead of hugging tho south mole, is being pushed to the northward, and kept to its proper place, running straight out. The work of extending tho north mole will be commenced next week, and the line of both moles will now be drawn close together in order lo converge the ebb current and uive a greater scouring effect on tho bar.
