SOLDIERS COMPLIMENTED.

THE GOVERNOR PLEASED. Colonel A. W. Robin, C.8., Chief of the General Staff, has received from Captain E. Crichton-Maitland, A.D.C. to his Excollency the Governor, the following letter in reference to the officers and men of the Royal New Zealand Artillery who assisted at the functions at Parliament House last' Tuesday: "Dear Sir,—l am directed by his Excellency the Governor to express to you his appreciation of the services rendered by the troops supplied by. you at the opening of Parliament and at tho levee yesterday, June 28."

Colonel Robin, in a memorandum on tho same subject, says: "I was personally much pleased with the appearance and steadiness of the escort and guard under the very wet conditions of tho day."

The Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) has written to Colonel Robin as follows:—"I desire to express my appreciation of the military arrangements on the occasion of tho arrival of his Excellency the Governor, and shall be glad if vou will so advise the officers Mid men concerned."
