News from Dunedin states that the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's Karamea, which arrived there on Sunday last from London, experienced very" rough weather after rounding the Cape of Good Hope. To tiie Snares heavy southerly gules prevailed; tho weather was very cold, and the thermometer frequently fell below freezing point. Heavy snowstorms, varied with hail squalls, were of daily occurrence. The Snares were passed on June 25, and a strong N.E. gale was encountered, which moderated to a light wind as thu Karamea steamed up the coast. Captain W. D. This morning the Fcderal-Houlder-Shire liner Susses, bound from Bluff to Waitara, will make a call at Wellington Heads for a party of stevedores. On Friday next the Northern Company's ltarawa leaves Onchunga for Wellington, and on arrival hero will be placed on the Patent Slip for annual overhaul. She is to resume running in the Onehunga-New Plymouth service on July 17. Meanwhilo the Union Company's Takapuna takes her place. Captain J. Nelson took the scow Eunice down from Havelock. to Lyttelton this week. Captain Olsen has left the vessel, and on her return to Havolock Captain R. Sproule, her chief mate, who is well known on tho coast, will take charge of her. Captain Stevens, of the M'okoia, has taken command of the Navua in place of Captain Hutton, who has gono to Auckland to join the Moura. After a passage of 48 hours from Waitara, the New Zealand Shipping Company's Waimate arrived in the stream at 7 p.m. last night, and will berth at GlasgowWharf early this morning. She has doubtless been delayed by fog and gales. To-day the Star of Canada leaves for Wangaiuii Roadstead to continue Homeward loading. Later sho calls at Gisborne and Napier. At 2 p.m. yesterday the Poherua and the Kittawa arrived at Greymouth. The former leaves for Wellington this morning, and tho latter for this port this afternoon. Mr. G. S. Stedham, formerly fonrth otticer of the fiunpehu, is now third of the Whakatane. Captain Itodger resumed command of the Gertie yesterday after holiday leave, aud Captain W. Brigden signed off. A Marine Court inquiry is to be held at Sydney to-day into tho collision between the Government steamer Kanadi, of Fiji, and the barquentinc lima, of Auckland. As the rain interfered considerably with the loading operations of the Moa, her departure for Wanganui was postponed until 11 o'clock this morning. The Union Company's W.aipori is to leave, for Kaipara to-day to load timber for Australia. Weather and sea having moderated sufficiently to make the bar at Westport workable yesterday, the Kurow and the Komata crossed inwards to load for Wellington. They are expected hero on Saturday.
