KARORI AFFAIRS.
BATHS FOR THE YEAR. A meeliug of the Knrori Borough Council was lialil last evening. There were present the Mayor (Mr. G. 1 Dasent), Councillors Spiers, Hniuu, Standen, Wellin;,', Wedde, and Hum. The -Mayor stated that Councillor Wedde, owing to the absence, of several councillors, wished to luild over the motion in regard to (he tramway f|ile.-.tion, of which lie hail given notice at the previous meeting. The motion proposed that Councillors jlildreth. Shinden, Walmsley, Haine, and Wedde should form the coininittLV which tho council had decided to set up. Councillors Spiers anil Bum objected to tho postpoiienicnl of (he motion. Tho Mayor said that the motion would have to lapse. Councillor Wedde: Oh, no. 1 think not. I shall simply give notice of the same motion again. A report was received from the electrical engineer of the City Council stating that the capital expenditure on Ihe electric lighting installation within the Knrori borough amounted to ,1:2812 7s. ■Id. on .March 31, not including meters anil transformers. Consideration of the works report was held over till next meeHiig. The following rates for the year were agreed to:—General rate, 2 1-IGcl. in tho £; charitable aid rate, 1-Cd.; special rate on JMOUO loan, l-10d.; special rate on loan of .£2OOO, l-20d.; special rate on loan of ,£2OOO, l-i!od.; special rate oil loan of .£2OOO, l-12d. The total rates amount to 3 M-25d. in the £, as compared with last year, and are estimated to bring in .£8757 7s. 2d., an increase of .£673 7s. Sd. as compared with last year. The iucrease in rates amounts to 2s. 3.U1. on .£IOO. The estimates for the year allow for a debit balance of .£9 Is. lid. Public works are estimated to cost ,£1839 10s.
