Regarding the Press Association message from Hastings why Trenibatli declined to meet Sanson over 100 yds., 220 yd?., and liOjxls., as the Gore manor had challenged Sanson over these distances, the following communication from Jlr. Virgo, secretary of the Gore Athletic Society, is of inlerest:—"Tranbath did not challenge Sanson over 100 yds., 220 yds. and JtOyds., but Cullender, of Haivko's Bay, on behalf of Sanson challenged Trcinbath. Tho latter did not accept tho challenge, but for all moneys to lie posted beforo lio would consider m.itclics, and ho reserved to himself tho right to select his distance.
