LORD ISLINGTON'S FIRST LEVEE.
A LARGE ATTENDANCE. Owing to the very inclement weather it was not anticipated that there would lie a very large attendance at Lord Islington's firfet levee, which was held in Iho Legislative Council Chamber between *ix and seven o'clock last evening. The new Governor, however, has already made such an excellent impression, and so much interest is being taken in the new regime, that, as a matter of fact, the attendance at the levee was exceptionally large. Amongst those who had the right ot private entre were the Prime Minister and his colleagues, several naval and military officers, who attended in uniform, member* of the Legislature, and Consuls. .Among the latter by fai tho most conspicuous was the Chinese Consul-General, in his inaguiticent robe*.
