Reinforcements of mounted and foot constables were brought ui) anil charged tho mob with drawn batons. One house was set on fire. Many of tho mob carried swords, files, and other "weapons. Tho entire neighbourhood was in a state of great excitement ) tho whole afternoon and evening, and two' , other charges had to be made by tho [ mounted police to disperse the crowd. A great many arrests wero made, a good ' number ot thpso taken into custody ! being injured. Furthor disturbances i havo occurred from time to time.
