A farmer named Eostwick was wanted by the police on a. chstrgo of misdemean-* our, and the police and a sheriff's posse went to effecf? liis arrest. Bostwjck refused to submit to arrest, and showed fight. He killed Mr. Dnvis, • chief of police, and also Mr. Sheffield, deputy-sheriff. The man then barricaded himself in his house. Tile police then called upon the militia , for assistance, and the latter stormed j the house. When an entranco was ! effected, Bostwick was found dying from a gunshot wound ho hud received in his first fight with tho police. Ho died lator. Fiyo children were also found in ihe house. They wero injured.
