STAT OF PROCEEDINGS. O!y T«)cewh.—Proas Association.) Napier, June. OS. At the Supremo ClHU't to-day, the Grown J?rosaciitor announced that he had been instructed by the Crown to enter stay of proceedings in the ease of John William Goldfinch, a youth, charged with indecently assaulting a young girl. Tho jury • bad failed to agree in this ease, and a retrial was fixed for to-day. Mr. Justico Edwards said ho was as* founded at stay of proceedings being en. tored after only one. trial, and without reference to tho judge. Mr. Cornford said hu could make a long Etatement, but did not wish unduly to intcrruijt the civil case then proceeding. Hi! slonour said if slay" of proceedings had been directed ihe registrar would enter it accordingly, and he (his Honour) had nothing more to do with the matter^
