ANGLERS' CASTING TOURNAMENT.
The Anglers' Casting Club continued [their winter tournament for members at 1 the Centennial Park, Sydney, on Juno 18, [under moderately difficult weather conditions. Special interest attached to tho event, which was casting under a forward ■obstacle. The contestants stood upon a punt and cast under a bar 12ft. wide and 6ft. from the water, placed ;3Oft. ,away from, the punt. It is a test peculiarly suited to the practical fisherman -who seeks to lure perch or trout from jnnder the'shade of trees. On tho whole, the casters 6howed improvement on their last year's performances. They each declared their expected cast for the purposes of a handicap, Dr. MStland and • Mr. H. K. Anderson, who occupied tho 59ft. 4in.j Mr. C. H. Gorrick, 62ft. lin.; •the first round results were:— Mr. W, E. (Wilson, 59ft. llin.! Dr. A. J. Brady, 50ft.' 4in.; Mr. C. H. Gorrick, 62ft. lin.; Mr. J. Scoulnr, 62ft. Bin,; Dr. 11. L. JfnitJand, 77ft. Bin.; and Mr. H. K. Anderson, Blft. 7in., or 51ft'. 7in. past the obstacle. "This was wonderfully good work, and Mr. .Anderson's cast was not beaten in the.second round, although most of tho competitors' improved upon their first essay. The winner used a Hardy tournament rod and heavy corona supcrba line, which ho" "shot" for probably 25ft. The performance is a very good, one, and beats Mr. Anderson's own best of last year by 3ft. Mr. J. W. Bradshaw .was the judge.
