(From Our Special Correspondent.) The annual social of the'Petpne Druids' Lodge, which was held'last night, was a great success. This first : part of the oveniug was devoted to a progressive euchre tournament. Prizes were won by Mrs. Kidge and' Hi's. Davis , ,'and the' booby prize by. Miss Southg'ate.'. After supper dancing ,was -indulged ~in, interspersed with songs by ■ Mrs. Bidge. and Messrs. • Wiseman, -Shaw, Savage, and Gray. Messrs. Mullins, > Sherwood, and Sldiuier 'acted as M.C.'s. ■•"■■.'■> The Petone Wesley Guild' met in the W.Y.M.I. Hall last night. There was a good attendance of members. The Rev. A. J. Seamer occupied the chair. The eubject for the evening was a debate on the question, "Should bachelors bo taxed?" Mr. F. Blakeley, Mr. Ackroyd, and Miss Kibblewhito 6poko for the amrmatve, and Mr. W. Hepplestone, Mr. D. Simpson, and Miss V. Kirk uphold the negative. The meeting divided in favour of the affirmative. At a moderately-attended meeting lost night it was resolved to form a Petone State School ex-Pupils' Association. The election of officers was hold over to the next meeting. It was decided to' invite teachers, . past and present, to become members and to circularise all ex-pupils residing in Petono. Mr. U. H. Johnson presided. ■ , . ' ' ' • ■ '
