NEW COMMISSIONER OF TAXGS. . MR. C. F.C.CAMPBELL APPOINTED ' OTHER IMPORTANT ALTERATIONS. • Several rearrangement,-, in the public 1 scrv'ice arc announced as a result ol the i retirement of Mr. Peter LLoyes from ■ the positions of Commissioner of Taxes 1 and Valuer-General. ' Mr. G. F."C. Campbell, general maai- ! ager of t-lio. State Fire Insurance DeI partmont, becomes Commissions; of Ta-xos. He entered the Public SoTvico 141 August, ]Sr4. as a cadet in the Publie Works Department. Throo years later lie was transferred to the Justice Department, whilst after having served two years in that Department he was transferred to the Land Tax Department. In 1894 Mr. Canroboll was aDpointed Depntv - Commissioner of Taxes; in 1596 he became Dcputy-Valucr-General, and later Deputy-Su-perintendent in the Advances to Settlers Office. He was promoted to the position of Valuer-General m 1904. Later he was transferred to the State Fire Insurance Department as general manager. The position of general manager of the State Fire Insurance Department will now be filbd by Mr. C. .H. 0. Robicson, Director of Industries ami Commerce and Tourist and Health liesorts. Prior to joining the Tourist, Industries and Commerce Department, Mr. Robiostm had twelve;. years' sci;viee in the Railway Department. Has first important position in that Department was chief booking clerk, at Wellington, and then he became chief clerk to tire traffic inspector. When Mr. Robicson first, joined the Tourist Department in 1901, he was second clerk, but eighteen months later he was made chief clerk of the Industries and Commerce as well as the Tourist Department. About twelve months ago_ he was appointed director of the coinbiueo Departments. . Mr. Ben. Wilson, now Registrar o! Awards, becomes Director of the Tourists, Commerce and Industries Department. For a number of years. Mr. Wilson was (it will bo rememliered) private secretary to Sir Joseph Wa.rd. The Valuation Department, which will now be a separate Department, will have as its head Mr. Flanagan, Commissioner of Crown Lands at Cliristcliii-rch. Mr. Flanaga.ii entered the Survey Department in Otago as a cadet in office and field in. 1871. He became chief draughtsman in 18S6, and some years ago was appointed Commissioner of Crown Lands at Nelson.
