ABOUT A SUPPRESSED PAMPHLET. MR. KEIR HARDIE COMPLAINS. By Telegraph—Pross Association—Copyright. London, Juno 23. Last month the authorities of Eastern Bengal confiscated a pamphlet published by Mr. l'\ C. Mackarness, formerly Liberal member for Newbury,. Berkshire, in which accusations were mado against a section of the Indian police. Tiic charges included corruption and torturing of prisoners. In tiie House of Commons, Mr. Iveir Hardie, Labour member for MerthyrTydvi], complained of the suppression of the pamphlet. Mr. E. S. Montagu, TJnder-Secrotary for India, in aji answer justifying tlio action of tlio Indian Government, said there was no reason for not applying the samo law to obnoxious matter transmitted from England as to that produced in India.
