AUSTRALIA'S NAVY.
FLAGSHIP'S KEEL LAID. ■ LADY REID DRIVES FIRST RIVET. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. London, June 23. The keel of the' Australian cruiserbattleship was laid to-day at the yards of John Brown and Company, Clydebank. ( Lady Reid, wife of the High Commissioner for Australia, drove the first rivet. Lady Reid wished the battleship to serve Australia and the Empire well aud faithfully, in times of peace and' war. In driving tho second rivet, Sir George Reid wished tho vessel good luck. Captain Collins (secretary to Sir George R-eid), Major Paino (commanding the Australian Bisley.teain), Lieutenants Biddicombe, Barnes, and Hockings (of Australia), and Professor Biles (naval architect, who supervised the building of the Australian destroyers) were, present at tho ceremony.
