TRADE WITH RUSSIA.
PROPOSAL FOR DIRECT' . SHIPMENTS. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, June 24. The establishment of a direct trading connection between New Zealand and Russia is the object aimed at by Mr. M. Koslovsky, of Russia, who is at present residing in Auckland. He represents tho _ Russian Commercial and Industrial Society of Exports and Imports of Moscow, and- he is endeavouring to make the aims of the society known to the leading commercial men of New .Zealand. ' In speaking to a (t Herald ,J representative, Mr. Koslovsky, stated that at present what trade existed between Russia and New Zealand was carried on through very roundabout channels,, and ■he thought it would be of mutual advantage if direct shipments could bo arranged for. Russia, ho pointed out, provides a ready market ior our tallow, skins, kauri gum, rabbit skins, hemp, and other products; whilst from Russia we receive various articles such as oils, salt, fancy leathers, grass seeds, and ■other largely-used commodities. Russia should also', he thought, witlu better means of transport, provide an outlet lor. > New Zealand muttoil "and fruitj particularly igplcs.
