Co-oporalive Pig-raising. A proposal is afoot to undertake cooperatve pig-raising in connection with tho Taratahi cheese factory. _ A suitable site has boon selected adjacent to the factory, where whey from the factory will bo transferred after being sterilised. There is also some talk of having bacon-curing works in connection with the freezing works at Waingawa. Pig-raising in the AVairarapa has. not. been as profitable as it should have be'en during recent years, this being; owing to the prevalence of tuberculosis. It is hoped that with tho sterilisation of whey this disease will bo minimised. Thero has been considerable mortality, among hoggets on AYairarapa sheep stations during the past month or two. One holder is reported to havo lost hundreds of young'sheep. Labour and Politics. Masterton possesses a Labour Federation which hopes to make itself figuro conspicuously on the political horizon. A meeting of members is to be held tomorrow night, when the political situation, so far as it affects tho district, will be reviewed. The rato struck this year by the Masterton Borough Council is the same as that of last year, with tho exception that a small library rato has been added.'
