NOTES ON THE RACING. (By Tolctrajm.—Special Correspondent.! Napier, Juno 22. Consequent upon tho wot weather experienced lately, the going was very holding on the Greenineadows track, and tho times recorded for to-day's events wore very slow. The only unusual incident during tho day's racing was the suspension of Carmont, ride" of Sir Frisco. Sir Frisco was favourite m the Stewards' Stakes, but was left at tho barrier. For the hack hurdles, Oxton was always at a very short price, but ho couldonly finish second. The riding of the Karamu representative was not exactly first-class. He was out in front for six furlongs, and was then pulled in behind. With four furlongs to go ho was giring Arclight and Millennial a big break, but ho caught them easily in a couple, of furlongs, and, at tho 'last fence, he looked all over a winner. However, Arclight stuck to her work, and, getting up on the rails, beat Oxton by a couple of lengths. Tho favourite pulled up very distressed. He should impiovo with more racing. Explosive fell at the back of tho course; but Pritcliard was not hurt. Another Karamu horse in Drcadless opened favourite in the Hack Handicap, but, at tho close of operations, a big commission went on BcreoJa, and tho bookmakers closed down on him. The unexpected again happened, for Raupare began sniurtly, and, leading throughout, just lasted long enough to I beat Royal Maid by a nose, with Amato a couple of lengths back, and tho favourite fourth. - The winner was bred at Waikanae Stud, and is a half-sister to William I. This is tho first occasion on winch she has won n race. Tho principal event came next, and supporters of the favourite, Sir Frisco, again backed a loser, for the horse novor left tho post. After settling down, To Ru was in charge, with Mataan next. The latter looked a winner at the turn, but he subsided quieklv when Elfish tackled him, and tho latter was in turn beaten. Ambrosian seemed like pulling Oliver out of the sadflo across tho bottom. She eventually won nicely by a length. The surprise of tho raco was the fine form shown by King's Lynn, and be was just a trifle unfortunate or he might have won. In tho Napier Steeplechase, though Lo Beau started favourite on tho machine, there was always as much money for Nero with the. bookmakers. Being well placed throughout, Nero won comfortably. Corazon fell at the brush at tho back of tho cnurso tho second timo round. This accident robbed the Taco of much of its interest, as Corazon was at tho timo out in front, and was going exceptionally well. Lo Beau's jumping was patchy, and, at the back of the course, Pri'tcliard was nearly unseated. Maidi went well for about two miles and a half, but she then tired badly. Lingerer was done with early, but Decline, being a good jumper, and running over less ground than anything else in tho race, was able to get second. Feu do Joie was another (tho fifth) favourite to go under. The Ladies' Bracelet was won all the way by Centaur (half-brother to Probable), with Karakaturua as his closest attendant .throughout. Tho favourite . was not well handled. Ortygia is, to say the least of it, not a promising performer. There were only four runners in. tho open hurdles, and, for once, a 'favouritescored. Aotea on Auckland form was supposed to bo a certainty, and, being nicely.ridden by W. Young, won easily. Xavier seemed to bo troubling him running down the back, but he fell at tho last fence. Showman was ridden by an inexperienced lad, and Forest, being only a pony, was not at homo in\ tho soft going. ' Backers once moro laid odds on a loser. This time it was Gold Battory in tho Settlers' Hack. He was beaten very easily. Across the bottom ho was pulling double, but San Pluio stuck to him, and, under her light weight, stayed on better. Tino Toa, however, .was tho winner. In the straight, Tino Toa camo with a fast run on the outsido and won comfortably. ACCEPTANCES FOR SECOND DAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Napier, June 22.
