Mr. Moore, manager of the now Merchants' and Shippers' Steamship Line, states that, live steamers will bo em-' ployed in the proposed monthly services between Australia, New Zealand, America, and Britain. Each will have a carrying capacity of from ten to twelve thousand tons, ■and will be fitted with extensive cold storage, to meet the demands of the frozen produce trade. The first steamer is expected here in six or seven.months' time. When xbe Panama Canal is completed the vessels will go.to England by that route. The company has submitted a proposal to the Government to train a number of boys for the mercantile marine on the new liners.
