A FATAL QUARREL.
HEADMASTER ON TRIAL, ASSISTANT DIES AFTER HIGH WORDS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, Juno 18. Peter Robin, master of tUo Flemiugton School, has been committed for trial in connection with the death of William Hulmo,' an assistant, who died from heart diseaso nftw a quarrel with the master. AN UNUSUAL CASE. The fatality occurred after an altercation between the two masters just prior to the dismissal of the sixth class, which Mr. Hulmo was leaching. The headmaster upbraided Mr. Hulmo before tho class, and alleged that ho was not instructing it properly, and had not explained to the pupils how to correct their exercises. Mr. Hulme had been 23 years in the service, and bore .an excellent reputation. He resented the tone adopted towards him, and asked the children to signify whether ho had not taught them the things tho headmaster said he had neglected. All the children held up their hands. Mr. Hulme then walked out of tho room. Shortly afteryards ho went into Mr. Robin's office to have it out with him. Thorn had been previous disputes between tho two. High words were heard to pass in tho office. Very soon Mr. Hulmo emerged, palo and trembling with excitement. Blood Hewed from a slight scratch on his cheek, and his wrists were scratched. Ho entered a classroom where a number of lady teachers were assembled in tho. lunch, hour, his appearance betokening great agitation. "I want you girls to take notice what he has done to me," he said, indicating the marks on }iis wrists and face. He then walked out into tho school yard, where he collapsed, and died shortly afterwards. Mr. Robin said at the inquest that Mr. Hulmo had placed his back against tho door and refused to let him pass out. He swung Hulmo aside, and tho latter's head struck a map on tho wall. This caused tho scratch. A verdict of death from heart disease was returned.
