AEROPLANE CONTROL.
WEST AUSTRALIAN INVENTION. USE OF HERTZIAN WAVES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. London, Juno 17. A Western Australian engineer, Mr. A. G. Roberts, has patented an invention for the control of dirigiblo balloons and aeroplanes by means of Hertzian waves. Satisfactory experiments havo been carried out at Dagenham, in Essex. It is also claimed that the invention, is applicablo to submersibles and torpedoes. [It is the Hertzian wave which is mado uso of in wireless telegraphy. In 1887 Professor Hertz, of Bonn University, Germany, discovered in his researches that a condenser produces an electric spark, which, under proper conditions, creates an effect propagated out into space as an electric wave. This discovery was followed in 18M-G by the invention by Marconi of a cohere for detecting the waves.]
