ROOSEVELT'S RETURN

Mr. Roosevelt's welcome at Now York on lis return from liis litint-i trip exceeded in enthusiasm anything since the Spanish war of 1898. Ha, was met by a decorated fleet of two - hundred excursion steamers, which wont down the Bay Mowing; their syrens. A salute of 21 guns was fired. Tho Mayor (Mr. G. B. M'Lollan) and many prominent citizens received Mr. Roosevelt on landing. la the procession through the city there was an escort of the original Roughriders and Spanish war veterans. Hundreds of thousands .lined the streets for , four miles through Broadway and Fifth Avenue. The parade was non-politicaL There was another' demonstration when Mr. Roosevelt arrived at Oyster Bay, his.seaside home. .
The American newspapers, discussing the demonstration, say that Mr. Roosevelt has returned with additional prestige, and declare that his influence is necessary for the Republican party.
