PLANS FOR RECEPTION. ORDER OF PROCESSION. A meeting of representatives of friendly societies, convened by the Town Cleric, whs held at the Town Hall last evening to arrange the route of procession and other details in connection with the city's reception to Lord Islington next Tuesday. Thero were present' Mr. J. R. Palmer (Town Clerk;, Mr. Robertson (secretary of the Wellington Friendly Societies' Council), Mr. It. Burton (Independent Order of llechabites), Mr. ■W. A.. Worth (Wellington District Ancient Order of Foresters), Mr. Reid (Good Templars), and Mr. Foster (American Order of Oddfellows). An apology was received from tho Mayor, who was prevented from being present by a meeting of the Harbour Board. Tho Town Clerk was voted to tho chah. Tho order which tho friendly societies, Salvation Army, and Good Templars will take in tho procession was fixed as follows: — Sous and Daughters of Temperance. Independent Order of Good Templars. Salvation Army and Band. British United Order of Oddfcllowo. Protestant Alliance. United Ancient Order of Druids. Independent Order of Oddfellows. Hibernian Society. , Independent Order of Rechabites. Ancient Order of Foresters. Manchester Unity of Oddfellows. The remaining order of procession of those in attendance will probably be as follows: — Education Board. College Governors and membere of both Colleges. Suburban Local Bodies and Clergy. Harbour Board and Chamber of Commerce Heads of Government Departments. Consuls. Members of warships, if any in port. Mayor and Councillors. Members of both Houso of Parliament. ' Prime Minister and Members of Ministry.' Tho Governor and escort. . The ronto of the procession will bo us follows: — From Queen's Wharf'to dais, thence To Brandon Street. Along Brandon Street to Featherstono Street. Back along Featherstono Street to Gray Street, thenoo To ,-Lambton Quay, thence To Charlotte Street and Molesworth Street gates of tho old Parliamentary Buildings, in front of which the swear-ing-in ceremony will tako place. It is understood that arrangements are being made for all the members oE tho procession, including troops, to occupy the grounds in front of tho old Parliamentary Building. Thero will be no ladies on the dais at the Queen's Statue, the reason being that .tlioso ladies who receive invitations will , require to take their scats on tho dais at tho old Parliamentary Building before the commencement of the swearing-in ceremony, which is to follow tho city's welcome. Tho following bands aro expected to tako part ill the procession:—Garrison Band, First Wellington Battalion Riflo Volunteers Band, Tramway Band, Salvation Army Band, and Central Mission Band.' MILITARY ARRANGEMENTS. In accordance with instructions from headquarters, the officer commanding tho district has ordered a full parade of tho territorial troops ,in tho Wellington Garrison in connection with tho official reception of his Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington). The hopo is expressed that the muster of troops will bo as large as possible. Details as to the hour and place of assembly will be announced later. Guards of honour will be detailed for duty'at the plnco of'landing, and also at tho Victoria Statue in Post Office Square, wlulo the troops will lino tho route. It is understood that the Wellington battalion of Senior Cadets will be invited to furnish tho guard. A detachment of tho Uoyal Now Zealand Artillery will, on this occasion, it is, understood, bo detailed as the mounted escort for his Excellency, while a second detachment will parodo at tho saluting battery, Pipitea Point, for tho viceregal salute of seventeen guns. Captain G. T. Hall (active list miattached) irill act as chief marshal. Tho Harbour Board decided last night that work on the wharves should cease for two hours on the day of Lord Islington's arrival. The chairman (Mr. R. Fletcher) was authorised to fix tho timo. '
