GOVERNMENT NOMINEES.
«- ON .WELLINGTON- HABBOTIB, BOARD. Tlio Government has appointed Mr, H. C. Tewsloy and Mx. W. T. Hildreth to bo members of the Wolliaigton Harbour Board. The vacancies were caused by the. resignation of Mr. P. H. Fraser ami by Mr. T. M. Wiiford, M.P., taking his seat on the board is Mayor of the city instead of a Government nominee as heretofore. Mr. Tewdoy is president of the Wellington. Chamber of Commerce and of tho Warehousemen's Association. Mr. Hildrcth is a member of tho Karori Borough Council. Formal notification of tho appoint, ments was received at last night's meeting of tho board. The chairman (Mr. R. Fletcher) con, gratulated the new members, and expressed confidence that tie business experience of both" gentlemen would enable them to be of great service to the board. Mr. I. M. Wiiford, the Hon. T. K. MacdonaM, and Messrs. J. G. Harknes and J. W. M'Ewan also complimented the new members, and expressed satis, faction with the appointments. Mr. Tewsley, in thanking the mem< bers, said he regarded his/new 'positioT as one of tho most important ho had ever been called upon to fill, .and ha would never regard it- as a sinecure. Mr. Hildreth also suitably-'replied. The Government is entitled to nominate three members of the Wellington Harbour Board. The Hon. T. Keamedy Macdonald, M.L.C., is the other Gow ernmenifc representative.
