Cule occupied the chair. The report on the year's work showed the congregational affairs to be in a very satisfactory state. There does not appear to be any opposition to the re-election of Messrs, A. Eraser, 3). H. Guthrie, and V. O'Dea to the Wauganui Education Board. A vote of thanks has been accorded to Mr. Cahill by tin? Wanganui Education Board lor obtaining two ca-scs of wool specimens from Home for the wool classes at Eoilding and Wanganui. Tiie first ball given by the Eeilding Club was held last evening, and there was a largo assemblage present from Wanganui down to Wellington city. A special building was erected 011 the club's grounds for the dancing. A donation of <£25 has been received from the Pohangina County Council towards the Apiti Technical School building. CARTERTON. Mr. G. Hughes has just landed a new five-seat Ford motor-car, which is intended for hire purposes. A pre-sessional address is to be given here on Wednesday evening nest by Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P. Mr. W. J. Read, of England, billiard champion of New Zealand, and holder of the record break of 48G, 255 of which were made off the red, is to give.an exhibition of billiards here on lvriday evening. The vestry of St. Mark's Church has decided to hold a bazaar in October next. The date has been fixed subject to the approval of the Ladies 5 Committee.
