Stubbs, M.A., winner of the 1851 Exhibition Science Scholarship, will leave for the Old Country to-morrow night. [His Majesty's Commissioners for tho Exhibition of lSol offer periodically lo 'the university a scholarship in scienco, of .£l5O for two years, with the possibility of extension to a third year, Tho general conditions as to eligibility for t)io scholarship state that candidates must have been bona fide students of scienco for at least three years in an institution utlilinted tu the university, completed not more than twelve months before the time of nomination, and in the interim engaged solely in scientific study; they must have indicated high promise of capability for original research, nml they ore bound by the statutes lo devote themselves to scientillc work limited to tluise branches the extension of which is especially important, to national industries; every candidate (who must be an honours man of first or second class in eel-lain sciences) is required when scfjkiiig Humiliation to «übmit an original paper embodying the results obtained by himself in some invest igplion or research having a direct bearing on productive industry, physics, chemistry, uatuvitl science, or engineering.]
