A PECULIAR CASE.

In the,case of Mr. Nesbit, a colliery cashier who was shot in a Newcastle train (with which offence Alex. Dickman, ex-colliery _ secretary, stands charged), the widow, Mrs. Nesbit, claimed ,£3OO compensation from the, company employing her husband. The County Court lias awarded her <£300 compensation, holding that in the ciicumstances the death is within tho Workmen's Compensation Act, as the murder was committed during deceased's empioyment. [Deceased carried a cash-bag containing tho company's money. This was taken, and was, subsequently found, empty, in an air-shaft]
