BROTHERHOOD FORMED.

OFFSHOOT OF CENTRAL MISSION. The initial meeting for the purpose of forming a Wellington City Men's Brotherhood was held in the Herbert Street Hall last evening, the ' meeting being called by the Rev. E. 0. Blamires, of the Central Mission. About 30 mem. were present. The Itev. E. 0. Blamires, who was in the choir, stated that the increment had grown to large, proportions in England, and perhaps no organisations had been so effective in permeating the masses with Christian truth. He described the Eastbrooke Brotherhood in England, and read -extracts from reports showing the great power of the movement in promoting temperance, clicking gambling, ennobling character, and purifying homes. The movement here would need to bo adapted to colonial requirements. The general objects were to foster the spirit of Christian brotherliness among the men of Wellington, to lead the strong, to help the weak, to promote thrift, to encourage pure literature, to assist all movements for true social and moral reform, and in every way possible help in the making of a new Wellington, Mr. Millington suggested that 100 men be secured to form the backbone of the movement, and, until these be secured, discussion of details be postponed. Mr. Ivershaw moved that the general principle of the movement be affirmed, and an organisation formed. The.broadest Christian platforpi was the platform of the brotherhood, The Fatherhood of God, - tlie Kingship of Christ, and the Brotherhood of Mail were essential principles of the movement.
