CANTERBURY HOSPITAL BOARD
Chnstchurch, June 15. The Hospital Board to-day declined to make an immediate extension of the accommodation for nurses at tho hospital, but instructed the committee to consider a comprehensive scheme to cover additions likely to be needed for several years to come. The board also decided to provide a ward for advanced cases of consumption. A committee was set 'up to consider the general policy of the board with regard to institutions llrojjr its control, the idea being to prevent unnecessary overlapping of the board's work and that done by other organisations. SUPREME COURT. Ounedin, June 15. Mr. Justice Williams admitted to probation Richard Porter and Albert Hickey, who, , while drunk, broke into a store at Outram, and stole twelve pounds of sausages. At the Supreme Court to-day decrees nisi were granted in the following divorce cases:—Eliza Scott v. William Scott, William Matthews v. Lena Matthews, William Ramsay v. Jemima Ramsay, Anne Crawford v. George Crawford, Alice Powell v. Thomas Powell. FIRES. Christchurch, June 15. A six-roomed house'on Eichard Evans's farm, near Ohoka, was destroyed by fire on Monday night. It was occupied .by the farm hands, and was insured for =£200. Thames, June 15. The police have received information that Applegate's store at Coromandel was gutted by fire early this morning. Damage to the stock and buildings amounted to about J2300. Insurances:—On the building, .£IOO, New Zealand Office; on the stock, .£SOO in tho Guardian.
