Princess Mario of Rumania (wifo of Prince Ferdinand, heir to the Rumanian throne) and her youngest son, Prince Nicholas, were ,aboard the Imperatul Traian at the time. The Greeks deny the looting, and state that the boatmen at Piraeus boarded the steamer for the purpose of rescuing a Greek deserter.
