« SEARCH OPERATIONS. (Rec. June 13, 10 p.m.) London, June 13. Wearing a breathing helmet, Mr. Steele, manager of the Wellington pit, Whitehaven, with three assistants, penetrated the pit in search of the 133 dead miners. A fallen roof stopped their progress forty yards from the place of origin of the fire. The clearance of debris has begun.
