American Suffragists received another rebuke recently when a deputation drove in fifty-four " motor-cars through the streets of Washington to present a petition in favour of Women's Suffrage, signed by 500,000 American women, to the Senate Committee on Suffrage. The delegates loudly cheered the speech of the Senator -vh'o introduced them, and when they were sharply rebuked by the vicepresident'llicy laughed anil renewed their applause. The petition is backed by thirty-two Senators and twenty-six representatives.
