THE NEW GOVERNOR.
DATE OF ARRIVAL IN WELLINGTON. Advice was received by the Prime Minister yesterday that Lord Islington, i;lie Governor-Elect, will reach Melbourne by the Macedonia on Juno 16 Whether he will proceed by rail or steamer to Sydney was not stated. His Excellency has arranged to sail from Sydney on June 18 by the Ulimaroa which will reach Wellington early on June 22. Interviewed by the Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.) on Saturday, Sir Joseph Ward expressed his willingness to fall iu with the arrangements made by his Worship and the council in connection with the reception to Lord Islington. Satisfactory replies have been received by the City Council from friendly and other societies which are to participate in the reception. It has been suggested by tho Mayor that the Amokura boys should be allowed to taka part.
