NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW ENTRIES.
That' widespread interest is taken in the National Dairy Show.may be judged from : . the entries . for. the various competitive sections made from all parts of the Dominion. ,'ln butter and cheese classes' 78 factories are exhibiting, and although each factory is limited to one entry, the value of the produce -on exhibition will total over £600. The promotion of competition, for, honours in apples finds 200 exhibits in the classes' for lots..of six apples, eighteen exhibitors in the champion class for £40 and' the Royal Horticultural Society's medal. Competitors are showing from Whangarci to Southland, all the fruit-growing'districts being represented. Another applo feature will be the big collection of cased apples competing, for valuable prizes. The vegetable section is expanding, there being 174 entries, and six collections for tho Royal •Horticultural. Society's medal. Six collections, of farm .roots compete for the Luxford Shield, and entries in the farm produce, sections total 167. Tho public school gardens section will make a very fine display, as ten si.. . '-, -will bo represented in the bays ana Gi entries in tho separate classes for roots. Home cookery, preserves and pickles, will be an interesting feature to the .ladies,, with a total of 186, and tho silver challenge-'cup for farmers' butter finds 32 farmers seeking honours. Butter for this class "is entered from Raglan fn tho north .to Cheviot in Canterbury. Utility poultry entries total 220. In the ring competitions three maiden hunters have been nominated, and eight ponies '• for. 'the Thursday afternoon.. Altogether the National Dairy Show is full of interesting and fascinating features that cannot fail to appeal to any visitor.
