MISSIONS TO SEAMEN

An instructive lecture on how to act in a sudden emergency calling for medical assistance, was given last evening at the Missions to" Seamen Institute. There was a large and interested audience. The lecturer, Mr. James Moore, dealt chiefly with tho common accidents, those' likely to cur in the daily course of life. He gave demonstrations showing the methods of treating hums, stopping bleeding arteries, and bandaging broken limbs. Tho' lecturer also gave several useful liiiits relating to health' matters. Competitions ill connection with ambulance work were held and won by sailors from ship's in port. A most enjoyable programme of music was ' provided by Mr. M'Lelland, the following 'contributing items:--Mrs. M'Lelland, .Mrs. Drew, Messrs. M'Lelland, Drew, and Bennett. Mr. Drew played the accompaniments.' A vote, of thanks, was given the performers at the conclusion.
