BUTTER=GRADING.

INDICTMENT AND DEFENCE. By Tdeuranh—Press Association—Copyrißhl (Rec. Juno 11, 0.55 a.m.) , . Melboumo, June 10. Following upon a question raised by the recent deputation as to the value of butter-grading, the Minister for Customs (Mr.. F. G. Tudor) sent a telegram to tlie New Zealand dairy commissioner stating that it is alleged that grade-marking and spot-selling have been detrimental to the interests of New Zealand producers. A reply has been received stating that "neither grade-marking nor spotselling is detrimental to the producer in New Zealand. Manufacturers and exporters have been satisfied with our grading marks for years past. Compulsory grading has raised the standard of quality and has increased values."
