GAZETTE ANNOUNCEMENTS. This week's Gazette contains the following announcements relative to the Defence Forces:— Mr. Frederick Burton Mabin's appointment as Finance Member of the Council of Defence (previously announced unofficially) is approved. Colonel It. J. Collins, V.D. (Active List, Unattached), has resigned his appointment as a trustee of the Wellington Drillshed Reserve. Appointments to the Territorial Force. —Denis Byrne AValshe, to be captain, New Zealand Medical Corps; Douglas Wilson Brown, to be lieutenant, H. Battery, N.Z.F.A.; George Perston, to bo lieutenant, Falmerston North Rifles; Gavin William Wardrop, to be lieutenant, Woodville Rifles. Promotions in the Territorial ForceMajor E. Hughes, V.D., to be lieut-enant-colonel commanding the Second Battalion Wellington Rifles (Wanganui); Lieutenant A. A. Grace, to be captain, H. Battery, N.Z.F.A.; Lieutenant C. T. Cox, to be honorary-captain, pay-and-quartermaster, Second Battalion Wellington Rifles. Lieutenant J. E. Rundle, Napier Guards, has resigned his commission. The services of the St. Vincent Rin'e Cadets (senior), with headquarters at Wellington, and of the Chatham Island Defence Rifle .Club and Okawa (Hastings) Rifle Club, have been accepted. The following awards of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal have been approved:—Lieutenant-Colonel G. A Harknoss, First Nelson Infantry •Battalion; Captain G. E. Rhodes, Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry; and Sergeant A. P. Anderson, Wanganui Eilles.
