(From Our Specisi Correspondent.) . Masterton, June 9. The weather was very bud tor the opening ceremony in connection with ■ the Mastertou gasworks this afternoon, riie function, however, passed oil very satisfactorily and afternoon tea was served to visitors. A upturn match will take place at an early date. The Masterton Club will sustain a loss by the departure of Mr. J. ■\. Connell, who has taken a very active interest in the game during the few months he has b«u resident in the district
