BREAD BAKING.
LOCAL CLASSES TO BE ARRANGED. During last night's ' meeting of the Master Bakers' Association a deputation was received from the Operative Bakors' Union of workers, with reference to a proposal to get a class of baking established at tho Technical School. The master bakers assured the deputation that they would do all they could to assist'in that direction, ways and means to bo Rono into at an early date.
In England and on tho Continent (it was stated) such classes exist, and it often happens that in the cities of New Zealand tho operative bakers are found to be not up to tho standard of the Home and Continental bakers (Germany in particular). At Some the instruction given relates not only to the technical, but to the chemical side of baking, and it is hoped that th« same plans will be arranged here, as the chemical side of baking is felt to be important. The Master Bakers' Association and (he Operative Bakers' Union are going to work hand in hand to get these classes established, and Mr. H. F. Allen will probably wait on Mr. La Trobe today to find out if there is room in the school and to make other inquiries^
