LIVE STOCK SALES.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having hold their fortnightly stock sale at Waipukurau on June 7, when they offered to a very representative . attendance a yarding of 250 head of cattle and 3650 sheep. Id.;-mixed sex lambs, small, ss. Id. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Mastertou stock sale, held this week, as follows:—A yarding of some 2300 sheep and 200 head of cattle was submitted. The quality of the sheep for the most part being poor, we had a dull dragging sale.. All lots, however, found purchasers before the close of the day. Cattle met with better competition, and all lots, with the exception of one line of .bullocks, sold readily under the hammer. We quote:—Sheep: Forward empty ewes, Bs. lOd. to 9s.'3d;; store ewes, ss. 6d. to 6s. 6d.; ewes, in lamb, 10s. to 10s. Id.; ; poorer sorts, 6s. 6d. to 7s. fid. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) • Chrlstchurch, June 8. At the Addington yards to-day the attendance was well up to the average, and there was a good entry of all classes of stock. The penning of store sheep was about the average, but there was a decrease in the number, of fat lambs entered. Fat sheep, however, were in good supply. The yarding of cattle and pigs was about .the same; as at the last few sales. The sheep sales went well on the whole. Tho • yarding of store sheep, which consisted principally of wethers and lambs, with a few pens of aged ewes, was about the same as regards numbers as last week. The demand -was keen, wethers especially being inquired for at a slight advancc on lato rates, and lambs met with a ready salo v at prices about on a par with late rates. The demand for ewes was slack, and there were a good many passed in. Forward wethertJ made 13s. 6d. to 14s. Bd.; others, lis. 9d. to 12s. 6d.; good lainbs, 9s. to 10s.; small and medium do., 6s. to Bs. Small two and four-tooth ewes were passed at lis. and 10s.; and broken-mouthed ewes at 7s. Fat Lambs.—The yarding of fat lambs totalled 5834, being ✓between 800 and 900 fewer than the number at' last sale. Tho market was very firm, and exporters were operating freely, doing most of the buying, only .a few lots going to local buyers. The general quality of the lambs penned was distinctly above that penned "at the. last sale, and this fact, discounts to a certain extent the general rises in prices that were noted. Even taking this into consideration, however, there, was a fractional advance in> values per pound of quite an eighth of a penny, and the market exhibited a very confident tone, all the lots being disposed- of. - Ordinary freezing weights made from 13s. 6d. to 165.; tegs, to 19s, 3d.; light and unfinished- sorts from lis. 4d. to 13s. The' J'at cheep yarding was below rccent markets,, but the- quality was,much better. There was keen demand, and ewes advanced a shilling a head and wethers sixpence. The range of prices was:—Extra prime wethers, to 245. 6d;; prime, 17s. -to 20s. 6d.; medium, 14s. 6d.' to 16s. 6d.; others, 138. 6d. to 145.; prime-ewes, 16s. to 18s. Bd.; medium, 13s. fid. to 15s. 6d.; others, 10s. 3d. to 135.; merino ewes, 9s. 9d. to 15s. 6d. Fat Cattle.—The yarding of fat cattle totalled 317 head, the bulk of which were good useful sorts. There was a good demand for all offerings, and the prices gained- at the previous week's sale were fully maintained. The average lines of steer beef fetched 18s. to 235., and extra, to ,255. per 1001b. Steers brought £6 10s. to £10; extra, to £13 10s.; heifers, £4 10s. to £8; cows, £5 ss. to £8; extra, £9. Vealers.— I The yarding of fat, calves . was about 'the average, the quality being, as usual, uneven, Prices ranged from 4s. 6d. to £2 10s. A . Store Cattle.—The entry was very small, and of poor quality, and the demand very weak. Fifteen to 18-montlis sorts- made £1 18s.; two-year-old heifers, £2 15s. to £2 175.; three-year-old steers, £5 2s, 6d.; flry cows, £3 10s. to £4. Dairy cows were . firm at from £3 10s. to £9 17s. 6d. I Pigs—There was a.full yarding of fat ■ pigs, but the demand was very weak. | Choppers made to £3 155.; heavy baconers, i 455. to 525.; lighter do., 38s.' to 42p., equal! to 4d. ner lb.; heavy porkers, 355. to 375.'; ■ smaller sorts, 265. to 345., equal to 4Jd. per lb.
