News of the King's death, to hand by mail, shows that his Majesty's physicians tried without success to dissuade him from going to Sandringham, where lie caught the second and fatal chill. His Majesty was equally difficult to control when he returned to Buckingham Palace from Sandringham. The. statement is attributed to him: "No! My back is to the wall, and I shall fight it out." He submitted himself finally to tho doctors only eight hours before he died. MR. HALL-JONES RECEIVED BY QUEEN MOTHER. London, June 7. The Queen Jlothor Alexandra received the New Zealand High Commissioner (Mr. M~. Hall-Jones) in audience at Buckingham. Palace, and expressed her appreciation of and gratitude for Now Zealand's sympathy with her in her late bereavement. KING EDWARD MEMORIAL FUND. Adelaide, June 7.
