Earthquakes, attended with great damage, anil somo loss of life, have again visited .Southern I Inly. The district, affected is considerably northward uf the sce.no of Ihe C'alabrinn and Sicilian disaster. Da map is reported from various places between Naples (on the west coast. of Italy) and I'oggia (somowhat inland from the east coast), including Avcllino (u Oampanian town 28 miles east of Naples), Ca.litri (about 32 miles east of Avellino), and Bovino (between C'alitri and I'oggia). Many, inhabitants both of Naples and Foggia (which is 80 miles north-east of Naples) are camped in ths streets. The beautiful cathedral at Bovino has been damaged. Many houses have been destroyed, and twenty persons killed in the town of Avellino. Deaths are also reported from other places. Reports so far indicate that seventeen towns and villages have been damaged. Palling houses caused the majority of casualties, the victims being asleep at the time. Carabiniers, sanitarians, and engineers are at rescue work, recovering tho bodies from the ruins. Fissures have been torn in the streets of Avellino. Much damage has been dono at Calitri and Veilata. The shock was undulatory in motion.

King Victor Emmanuel and Queen Helena have left Borne by special train to visit the scenes of damage by the earthquake. Berne, June 7. A strong shock of earthquake was felt in the Swiss town of Mentreux, near the upper end of Lake Geneva. It caused avalanches on the Alpine peak Dent du Midi. THE DEATH-ROLL. (Rec. Juno 8, 11.5 p.m.) Rome, June 8. The death-roll in connection with the earthquakes is 30.
