FORTY SLAIN IN A MEXICAN TOWN

A serious Indian insurrection is reported in Yucatan, one of the southern States o£ Mexico, consisting of the peninsula on tho east side of the Gulf of Campeehe. Indian insurgents, numbering 1000, under the leadership of Maximilian Bonitta, attacked the town of Yalladolid (whosefinccathedral and Franciscan Convent were pillaged by Indians in 1S1S). The Indians killed forty police and Government employees at Vallndolid, and destroyed tho railway. A reign of terror prevails. • The insurgents are holding entrenched positions. REPORTED THAT 500 ARE KILLED. (Rec. June 8, 11.5 p.m.) , . Mexico, June 8, Advices from Yucatan state that 7000 Maya Indians are' on the warpath. Five hundred civilians and soldiers are reported to have been killed in three days, 'but there is now a prospect of the suppression of the outbreak without great difficulty.
