DEATH IN A THEATRE. Chrisichurch, June 7. A tragic incident occurred last night in the Theatre Royal, where the Marlow Dramatic Company gave its first performance of the Chrisichurch season. Among the audience ih the gallery were Mrs. Augusta Elizabeth Stock, wife of Mr. David C. Stock, of Ashburton, her daughter-in-law and another lady friend. About ld.-iO Mrs.. Stock suddenly collapsed, falling on' her daughter-in-law's shoulder. It was thought at first that she had merely fainted, and Bile was conveyed from the gallery to tho office in the building. -Medical aid was suni» moned, but when the doctor arrived ho could only state that life was extinct. Deceased was forty-five years of age. She had been in ill-health for some time, and had been attended by a medical man in Ashburton. DREDGE HAND DROWNED. Greymouth, Juno 7. William Glen, aged 30, who has worked on the Notown dredge ever since she started, fell overboard at 3 o'clock this morning, and was drowned. Picton, June 7. Peter Petersen, aged CO, dropped dead at 8 o'clock this morning from heart disease at Tetneliia. AN INQUEST. An inquest was held yesterday morning by Mr. \V. R. Haselden, S.M., coroner, into tho circumstances surrounding tho death of a three weeks old child named Walter Harry Carlvle, who died on Friday. After hearing tho evidence of Drs. Ewart and Bennett, and that of tho parents of the child, a verdict of death lrom natural causes was returned.
