A small company was formed here a few months ago to take np this appliance, and Mr. Risscl .was sent to Engird to endeavour to place the machine. Since then the invention lias been very greatly improved. The instrument in its perfected form has been constructed T>y Cassella and Co., ,a noted firm of instrument makers in London, and is considered by them to be a very ingeaiiouß The business arrangements in regard to it have been, placed in the hands of Mr. Charles Sbarland, of LonMr. Kissel is still in London, and go over to Berlin. Sea trials of the instrument have been arranged for, aiid will be held very soon in connection with a well-known shipping company. The London "Times," in its engineering supplement, gives ■ a quarter of a column to a description of the invention. The Sheffield "Daily Telegraph, in a longer notice, says that "to ensure good steering—even with the skiuper ill his bunk—is practioally assured" by the appliance. "Electricity 11 states: The utility of the indicator and alarm will be obvious to,.every mariner, whilst tie permanent record of the voyage, Tecordea on a chart, should also prove invaluabte 'as evidence in a Court of law regardinl7 the movements of a vessel to whicli it "is fitted." The "Electrician," which, in its issue of April tjo has an illustrated article descriptive of the invention, speaks' of it as "likely to arouse considerable interest in the Marino world.". '
