.(From Our Special Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of tho Governors of the Petoue Technical School was held last uight, members present being: Tho Rev. A. Thomson (chairman), aud Messrs. M'Kenzie, Baldwin, Hayes, Castle,. Southgate, Jones, Trueman, Jl'-Gwan, Pindlay, and List. A .grant of £12 10s. was received from tho Wellington Education Board for painting the south wall of the school, and the board decided that the work was to be proceeded with at once.' The I'ctone Borough Council wroto advising that tho request for a new lamp at the main entrance had been granted. It was resolved to commence a cookery class and • that Miss Alexander be .appointed instructress, tho instructress to be required to givo a gratis demonstration, on tho opening night of tho class. Mr. Baldwin donated a 501b. bag of flour to. tho class. The director was instructed to confer with tho mechanical drawing instructor, in reference to inaugurating a class for steam tuition. There was some discussion on the question of the Boys' Institute section of land, and, subsequently, it was resolved to instruct tho board's solicitor (Mr. R. C. Kirk) to take action in the Supreme Court (provided ' the cost did. not exceed .£10) so that tho land in question could become the property of the board. Tho director reported that the total atteudanco was 101 this year, as against 1(!5 last year. All classes were doing good work,, but somo of them were rather' small. Thcro was a probability, however, that these would improve next quarter. ■
At a largely-attended meeting of tho Executive Committee, which is arranging details of the Henry-Potts mission, it was announced that Mr. Shearer had been appointed conductor of tho united choirs, and that, the first practice was to take place in the Methodist Church on Tuesday next. Arrangements for a united communion and prayer-meeting services were left in the hands of the clergy. Lad.r members of the committee were requested to prepare badges for workers and the choir.
The entertainment in aid of tho Pelone District • High School funds, which is being given by tho Mascotte Picture Cnmnany in the local Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday and Friday of this week, promises to be a success. Some excellent and instructive films have been especially procured for tho occasion, and for such a deserving cause the entertainment should receive the support which it deserves.
