The Auckland Racing Club's Winter meeting will be concluded at Ellerslie to-morrow. Jockey Carmont, who rodo Sir Frisco in tho Rangiur'u Handicap at Levin on i-'riday, registered his first winning rido since ho met with a serious accident at t r ff ur . "il o - lv ""i. as a result of a fall of.' Matnriki, he was unconscious for 21 days. Carmont did . not resume riding until tho present season. Serenity, half-brother to tho New Zealand Cup winner Erisco, hurt his shoulder on the training track at Levin last week, and will be treated to a spell. First Consul developed soreness at Levin, and wns in consenuencr- unable to start on tho second day" of the Otaki Clubs meeting. Lovell and Nyland, in chargo of G. Price, left Auckland yesterday, tho latter for Awapum and the former for Porirua. Paisano and Continuance have both been supported for the" Grand National Hurdles. There is conseouentlv reason to believo that they aro both recovering from tho attack of influenza contracted at Wanganui. 11.. Gray will rido Hohungatahi in tho I'nrewell Handicap at Ellerslie to-morrow afternoon. ■As 11. King was engaged at the Otaki meeting last week with Mahuta, J. leachy took Frisco aud Strathmoira to Luerslio. Audnx has not been nccepted for in any event on tho concluding day of the Auckland Racing Club's meeting. Owners arc reminded that at 8 o'clock to-night entries close for tho New Zealand Cup, with Mr. W. H. E. Wankjyu, secretary of the Canterbury Jockey Club, Christchurch. The race, which is to be run on Saturday, November 5, is worth 2000 sovs., and is run over a twomiles course.
