CHINESE SCHOOL.
The pupils and teachers of the Chinese School celebrated their anniversary last evening in tho Vivian Street Schoolroom. Tho Chinese, as is (heir custom, showed their appreciation of the work on their behalf by inviting their teachers and friends to a banquet. After the supper, a concert was held at which a long programme was gone through and much enjoyed.- Two well-known patrons, Mr. Tui, from Dunedin, and Mr. Hwang, Chinese Consul, were welcomed and gave speeches. Mr. Hwang addressed his fellow-country-men on "Development of Personality!" Tho programme included a chorus by the Chinese, song and recitation by Miss Pees, songs by Miss~ Kaikes, Mr. Paul, and others. Mr. M'Luskey, the head of the school, thanked the pupils for their kindness in providing so enjoyable an evening, and a pupil replied in suitable 'terms. A request was made for more teachers, and seven lady students from Victoria College showed their appreciation of the work by offering their services.
