Kins George, recently promoted from the rank of General to that of Field-MaTshal, with a Keld-Marshal'e baton, Lord Roberts, in a short speech, mado the presentation. King George's reply was felicitous. Tho presentation took place at Marlborough House. [Tho Field-Marshals of Britain in order of their seniority are:—Lord Wolselcy, Lord Roberts, tho Duke of Connaught, Sir Evelyn Wood, Sir G. S. White, Lord Grenfell," Sir C. H. Brownlon-, Lord Kitchener. The inonarchs who hold tho rank of Field-Marshal in tho British Army are King George, the Kaiser, and the Emperor Franz Josef.l COLONEL OP AUSTRALIAN LIGHT HORSE. ~ Melbourne, June 6. When King George was Prince of Wales he .accepted the position of Colonel-in-Chief ol the Australian Light Morse Regiments. In reply to a query, tho King states that he desires to retain the position.
